Over the New Year’s holiday, I had a chance to think back on 2008. Many of my thoughts related to Rex, the wonderful German Shepherd you found for me. I wanted to write and express my gratitude to you.
As you know, I had been looking for a German Shepherd (my favorite breed) for a long time, but work issues forced me to delay the purchase. During my search, I spoke with many reputable breeders and dealers of German Shepherds. Then there was that day in March, 2008, when I saw a wonderful Shepherd at the beach in Fort Lauderdale. When I asked its handler where he had gotten his dog, he told me about and put me in contact with you.
When I spoke with you by phone, I knew immediately that you were different from and far better than all the other people I had spoken with about my search for a great dog. Your answers were clear and honest, and it was obvious to me that you were a true expert regarding the breed. After our first conversation, I decided then and there to work only with you on my search.
After telling you about my situation and what I was hoping for in a dog, you told me you would start looking, and that I should be patient, because not every dog is right for every person. I trusted you implicitly, and gave you the green light. When you called me two months later to say that you had found a great dog that you thought would be perfect for me, I was excited, because I knew you wouldn’t have called if you didn’t have an excellent candidate in mind.
When you sent me the DVDs of Rex, I watched them again and again. I loved what I saw. Then I visited you in Connecticut in May, met Rex, and knew at first sight he was just what I was looking for. I bought him that day, and asked you to board him and provide some additional training for two months, while I resolved a real estate issue. When he arrived at my home in July, it was obvious that you had taken wonderful care of him, because he was a happy, healthy dog who easily made the adjustment to being with me.
Rex has exceeded my already sky-high expectations in every respect. I knew he would be great, but didn’t think he would be this great. He is smart, athletic, cheerful, playful, wonderful with people and most other dogs, loyal, obedient, protective (in a subtle and nice way, but I have no doubt that he would stop at nothing to defend me, including giving his own life, if necessary) and a great companion. Literally every day, as I take Rex for walks, someone will say to me, “What a beautiful dog.” What is amazing about Rex is that he is a sweet dog that everyone likes, but he is also a serious German Shepherd who personifies the deeply-revered and exceptional characteristics of the breed, such as loyalty, intelligence and protectiveness.
Erich, I can’t thank you enough for finding Rex for me, and for all the help you have provided along the way. I know other people wanted to buy Rex after I agreed to, and for more money than I paid, but you made a deal with me and you kept it. I trusted you immediately, and that’s why I paid for Rex in full more than two months prior to receiving him. You have provided excellent advice to me, and have been honest, easy to work with, and a true expert regarding the German Shepherd dog. Best of all, you found the perfect dog for me.
So I wanted to write, and to thank you for everything.
